Pricing

You pay for the person who starts the show

Everyone else — every operator on the rail, every phone in Button Mode, the DSM, every Editor helping build the paperwork, the director watching Fullscreen — is free, and always will be. A cue system that charges per crew member isn’t a cue system anyone uses.

Pricing is still settling

FlyCue is new and these figures are indicative while it finds its feet — they may move as more companies use it. If you take a licence at these prices, that's what you’ll keep paying: early users get grandfathered in, whatever happens above them. Prices in AUD.

Education. Students and teachers paying for it themselves get 50% off any tier. Schools, universities and colleges buying an institutional licence get 25% off. Just ask from your institution’s email address.

The part that matters

Four roles. You pay for one of them.

FlyCue only works if the whole crew is on it. Charging per head would guarantee half the team ends up back on a printout — so only the person who starts the show costs anything.

Admin PAID

Starts shows, and the only role that can add or remove people — or run an import that could overwrite the lot. Those powers are what a licence buys.

Editor FREE

Builds the plot and the cues, sets the colours and the deads, prints the paperwork — and fires cues too. Everything except managing people and importing over the top of them.

Operator FREE

Moves the stack forward and back, on the rail or in Button Mode, and can print their own cue sheet. Nothing they can edit.

Viewer FREE

Fullscreen Mode only, no account. The wallboard, the director, anyone who just needs to see where the show is up to.

What a licence actually pays for

FlyCue is built and looked after by one person who works in theatre, not by a software company with a sales team. Every licence goes back into building it — and into keeping the free tier as complete as it is.

Plenty of theatre runs on nothing at all. A school production or a community company with no budget should still be able to draw a proper plot, write a cue stack and hand the crew paperwork they can follow. The companies that can afford a licence are what keep that possible for the ones that can’t.

Questions

Fair enough questions about money

Why per production and not just a subscription?

Because a lot of theatre isn't continuous. A community company doing one panto a year shouldn't pay for twelve months of sync it uses for six weeks. If you're across three or more shows a year the Season licence works out cheaper — that's the only reason to move up.

What happens when a production pass runs out?

Nothing disappears. The show stays readable and printable, and you can still download the show file and run it locally. What stops is live sync between devices. Renew and it picks up where it was.

Why two months?

It covers the window where a fly plot actually matters — from drawing it up, through tech and the run, to strike. Much longer and it stops being a production pass and starts being a subscription you didn’t choose. If your build starts earlier than that — a school production plotted at the start of term and performed at the end, say — tell me when you buy it and I’ll set the clock to suit, or extend it later. Nobody’s pass is going to expire mid-run.

What’s actually missing from the free tier?

The multi-device parts of a show you start. A free show lives on the one machine that made it: no cloud sync, no show code, so no Button Mode remotes, no operators and nothing on a wallboard. What you do get is the whole of the app on that machine — plot, cues, rig view, Fullscreen, Show Mode, CSV and both printed documents — with no time limit.

What it does not limit is joining. A free account can be an Editor, an Operator or a Viewer on as many other people’s shows as it’s invited to, with full sync, forever. Nobody on your crew needs a licence to be on your show.

Why is so much of it free?

Because plenty of theatre runs on no budget at all, and the fly floor is usually last in the queue for whatever budget there is. A school production or a community company with nothing to spend should still be able to draw a proper plot, write a cue stack and hand the crew paperwork they can follow. None of that belongs behind a paywall. The licences from companies that do have a budget are what keep it that way.

Do I need to pay for my fly crew?

No. Operators, Viewers and Button Mode remotes are unlimited on every paid tier, and Editors are unlimited from Season up. The only thing a licence really covers is the Admin — the person who starts shows and adds people. Everyone else joins with the six-digit code.

Why does House stop at 10 Admins?

Because ten covers any venue that runs on one roster — a full production department, the duty techs and whoever covers when someone’s away, with room to spare. It’s there so one licence stays one venue rather than quietly becoming four. If you genuinely need more than ten, or you run several venues under one roof, get in touch and we’ll sort something out — that’s a conversation, not a wall.

Is a licence tied to me, or to a show?

To you — but every role is granted show by show. Being the Admin on your panto gives you nothing on someone else’s Twelfth Night unless they add you to it, and being an Operator on theirs costs you nothing. One account can be the Admin of its own show and a plain Operator on three others at the same time.

How do I actually pay?

Right now, by getting in touch. There is no card form yet — licences are set up by hand at this end, which is also why the education discounts are just a matter of asking. When proper checkout arrives nothing about your show changes.

Is there an education price?

Two of them, depending on who’s actually paying. A student or a teacher buying it out of their own pocket gets 50% off any tier. A school, university or college buying an institutional licence gets 25%. Get in touch from your institution’s email address and it’s applied.

Can I try it before paying anything?

The Free tier isn't a trial — it's the whole app minus cloud sync, with no time limit. Build a real plot, write a real cue stack, print the paperwork, and only pay when you want several devices following each other live.

Where does my show data live?

On the Free tier, only on your machine. On the paid tiers it syncs through the cloud so devices can follow each other, and you can pull a full show file down at any time — the export is never locked behind a subscription.

Start on the free tier

Build the whole show first. Decide about sync when the crew arrives.
